Albarino, Spanish white wine variety

Albarino is the most fashionable white wine variety in Spain. It is somewhat surprising that until recently little interest has been shown in the variety in Australia. That is about to change...

Are you paying attention?

Hello,
I don't have an efficient method of tracking how many people actually read this blog, so this might see if anyone does actually read this.

After a longish gestation it looks like the book is ready for order. So if you like to rush in where angels fear to tread, then you can actually order Emerging Varietal Wines of Australia now. As we are hard against Christmas you should be aware that the terms of delivery are " printed and posted within two business days" but by the magic of POD it is printed and posted from somewhere near you. But I wouldn't expect it to be delivered before say 6th Jan.

Articles about Australian Wines

I have added a Wine Articles page to the Vinodiversity site. It will help you navigate around to some of the articles I have written over the past year or so. It is still a work in progress, but it may be worth a browse.

Rutherglen wine region

What a shock! Sometimes you don't see what is there right under your nose. After nearly two years of writing about wine on the web I suddenly discovered that I haven't written a page about Rutherglen.
Crikey! or Kel Orrer as the french would say.

Well I just had to fix it.

Vigna Bottin

A few people have been asking about Vigna Bottin, who made the Sangiovese which was so successful at the AAVWS in November. Paolo has been too busy growing grapes and growing wine (he aslo makes Barbera) to get his website organised as yet, so I have put up a small page where you can contact him.

Viognier

This variety is moving from being 'alternative' to 'mainstream.' There are now over 160 wineries making wine from Viognier. Many are using it in co-pigmentation with shiraz, but many are using it to make varietal wines, or in blends with other RHone varieties
