Boutique Wine Awards

The Australian Boutique Wine Association awards were held recently in Melbourne. The classes of particular interest to Vinodiversity were the Other White Varieties and Other Red Varieties categories. The highest scoring wine in the other white category was Millbrook Winery for its 2003 Viognier. The best other red was the Bundock Winery 2003 Petit Verdot.

The other whites were numerically dominated by Verdelho, with just four other varieties represented, namely Viognier, Pinot grigio/gris, Marsanne and Traminer. In the reds Durif and Sangiovese were the most popular varieties represented in a field containing a dozen alternative red varieties.

The full results of the show are posted on the Boutique wines website.
