Tannat
In the winter wine guide in today's Age Epicure there is a review of Pepper Tree Grand Reserve Tannat.
The reviewers, Ben Canaider and Greg Duncan Powell seem to take a more inclusive view of what varieties make noteworthy wines. so they review 12 shirazes (inc 2 with viognier), 9 cabernets, 4 pinots, 8 blends (two include sangiovese) and 4 new varieties, a Petit verdot, a Barbera, Nebbiolo and a Tannat, as mentioned above. The boys at least give new wines more than a passing nod.
