Grenache article in Wine Diva

Grenache is enjoying a revival after being largely written off during the 1980's. It's former role included making fortified wine and providing the bulk for the rather undistinguished "Australian clarets" that we used to drink. There was never any real danger that the variety would become extinct, but it certainly seemed headed for obscurity.

Toni Paterson MW has recently written an article in Wine Diva which sums up the roller coaster ride of this valuable grape variety, now a prized component in GSM blends from McLaren Vale and the Barossa.

For those who haen't found it yet, Wine Diva is a comprehensive online directory of everything you need to know about aussie wine.
